Naik wins OSRC Open schools chess title

Local boy Anantprava Naik of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 4 emerged champion in the 1st OSRC All-Odisha Open Schools Chess Tournament at Secretariat Recreation Club here today. He maintained his winning run till the end to finish with eight points.

City boys asserted supremacy in the three-day tournament with Jagadish Ghadei (DAV Public School Kalinga Nagar) and Ritesh Mohapatra (St Joseph`s High School) claiming the second and third positions respectively with 6.5 points apiece.

Employment Department Joint-Director Ganeswar Jena handed over the prizes in the presence of Orissa State Chess Association vice-president Arati Bijoy Mohanty, host Odisha Secretariat Recreation Club secretary Managovinda Dalei and chief arbiter Debasis Panigrahi.
